The first thing to check is the transmission receiver on the inside wall of your garage.
Garage door opens with remote but does not close.
Some garage doors have infrared sensors that shoot an invisible beam across the door.
If your garage door won t open with remote activation the problem could be the result of an expired battery in your remote transmitter.
If they are working correctly the problem might be because of the safety sensors.
If anything interrupts this beam of light the garage door will not close and the ceiling light on the opener mechanism will flash as mentioned in the previous step.
Try using your remote to open or close your door to determine if the reprogramming was successful.
If the remote works from inside the garage but not from the outside then most likely the antenna wire on the garage door opener itself may be damaged broken or not in visible range.
Check to be sure the antenna is attached and if it is not hanging down from the unit move the antenna so it can catch the beam being sent by the remote.
To reprogram your garage door remote locate then press your opener s learn button.
Then within 30 seconds hold the button on your remote for three seconds or until garage door opener s lights flash or the led light on your opener blinks.
The garage door remote won t work but the wall switch does check the batteries and electrical connections in the remote to make sure they are working correctly.
This is the reason the garage door remote can open the door but may not be able to close the garage door.
This is of course a safety feature to prevent the heavy garage door crushing anyone or anything that might be in the pathway of the door when it comes down.
