There will probably come a time when almost every homeowner needs to use the release cord on the garage door.
Step 2 will allow you to freely move the garage door open and close.
Pull the red cord towards the garage door and listen for a click.
Place a ladder under the chain that operates the garage door.
The trolley sits on the opener carriage.
The emergency release cord is the red rope that hangs from the door trolley.
It could happen for any number of reasons but some people have trouble figuring out how to reconnect the door to the automated system.
These cords are almost always red but if there is only one cord and it s not.
Manually move the garage door and return to down position.

When the time comes to reconnect your garage door simply pull the emergency release cord back toward the door to re engage the spring lever.
At this point you can either re engage the trolley manually or remotely.
The trolley is connected to the door and moves with the door as it opens and closes.

To do this climb back up on the ladder grab the red handle and pull it toward the garage door and away from the motor.
