Garage Door Squeak Noise

The garage door noise you are hearing may simply be due to the fact that the door and track supports have loose or missing track bolts and screws causing the door to rattle in its rails.

If they are fine lubricate them with some machine oil to lessen the noise. They should not squeak when your garage door is not in motion. The door track rollers move each time you open or close the door leading to a lot of movement and causing wear. This can happen if the chain is overly tight or the door is not properly adjusted.

Use a ladder to access to the upper parts of the door. Over time hinges may start to squeak on your door. Squeaky garage door or garage door grinding sound when opening or closing. An obnoxious sounding garage door makes it impossible to quietly slip out of your home.

Well that is a bad sign. Step 1 inspect the garage door. Do they just squeak all the time. The chains on your door should not slap at all.

Whether the garage door mechanism was installed incorrectly or it bent over the years because of the weight of the door damaged tracks can cause friction and noise when the garage door moves.

If you hear creaking or squeaking inspect your hinges for damage. Inspect the hinges the opening mechanism the door tracks and the wheels in order to identify the source of the squeaking noise. Have you ever heard you garage door roller squeak from time to time. Using a wrench and socket set to retighten these bolts and screws can potentially quiet the garage door almost completely.

Make sure the wheels do not wobble when opening and closing the door.
