Garage Door Wall Button Wiring

A wall console unit for a garage door opener is not a complicated device so it s fairly simple to troubleshoot when something seems to go wrong.

The wire should be attached from the wall button to the opener motor. You can leave 6 inches between each staple and secure them with a hammer. I needed 23 feet for each side left and right sides and had two garage doors so 100 feet is exactly enough. Use small staples that you carefully hammer into the wall to hold the wire and you re done.

Enough wire for two garage doors. Cannot be used on series iii generation genie units or liftmaster chamberlain craftsman 2 0. Loosen the two terminal screws on the side of the opener where the bell wire attaches using a screwdriver.

You will see two holes for the button connection indicating where to put them. Locate the bell wire that connects the wall switch to the garage door opener. Once you reach the opener attach the wires to the motor terminals. Simple push button operation.

The non lit wall button mounts to a side wall and wires directly to the garage door opener. Just cut to length skim the wire ends and connect. Depending on the model most work by connecting two to four wires onto terminals mounting the device on the wall and then plugging the unit into an electrical outlet. This universal wall push button is compatible with most genie garage door openers and most major garage door opener brands.
