Depending on the model most work by connecting two to four wires onto terminals mounting the device on the wall and then plugging the unit into an electrical outlet. Usually when a garage door doesn t open the problem lies with either the wall switch or your remote. The antenna on the motor could be damaged or blocked from the signal. However there is always the possibility that neither the remote control nor wall switch will open the garage door.

Check that wires are securely attached to the sensor s photoelectric eyes each eye has 2 wires and the wall unit. Installing and operating the wall console for a garage door opener is fairly uncomplicated. If the door opens when you press the button on the wall mounted control keypad but not when you use the remote you might have just pinpointed the source of the problem. If the door opens with the wall switch a simple battery change in the remote should do the trick.

Disconnect the wires from the button and touch the bare ends together. A wall console unit for a garage door opener is not a complicated device so it s fairly simple to troubleshoot when something seems to go wrong. If the door operates either the wires weren t securely connected to the button or it s gone bad. That wiring can become damaged or disconnected.
