Genie Garage Door Keeps Running

If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.

You may need to give the cord a slight yank to reconnect. If an operational problem exists and the garage door opener will not close the opener can be forced to close. Press and hold the wall console button until the garage door is completey closed. Fold a soft cloth around your finger.

Pull emergency release cord and knob toward the motor. Check for interference from adjacent photo eye sensors of any brand. This is an easy fix. The lenses will most likely be attached to metal brackets attached to the garage door frame.

In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor. Door starts down then stops before it is closed. Try to keep the cord as parallel to the rail of the garage door opener as possible. You should now be able to operate the door using the genie garage door opener.
